Los Angeles-based artist, Bryant Giles, linked up with New Balance to release a collection of 2002Rs, including the one I’m reviewing today in the “Iguana / Capulet Olive” colourway. With a canvas upper, Giles’ artwork is embroidered throughout, along with a removable “N” on the lateral side. Inspired by the rats of Shibuya along with the city’s sewage system, these feature a mostly grey coloured upper with a variety of materials such as faux fur, rat footprint patterned nubuck, and shiny leather. After being named last year as New Balance Made In USA’s Creative Director, Teddy Santis (of Aime Leon Dore) dropped another pair from his 16-pair collection late last week. Once again, he opted for the 990 V3 for his silhouette of choice, but instead of neutral tones, this pair opts for a bright purple suede, navy mesh, and orange and grey accents.
