Stray Rats and New Balance recently linked up to release a two-pack collab on the Made in England 991 model. The first of the two I’m reviewing is the “Black / Pink” colourway, which features black coloured nubuck and mesh, with reflective overlays and accents of grey and pink throughout. Before 2021 ends, I picked up another New Balance shoe. This time it’s the 1500 in the “Slate Blue / Grey” colourway. This made in England pair is incredibly crafted, with quality nubuck in a cool, simple combination of grey and blue tones. Another year is in the books, and what a year for sneakers it has been. 2021 continued to see the rise in popularity of New Balance, Dunks continued to dominate the market, but we also saw a flurry of very creative, well thought out and meaningful collaborations too. My latest sneaker pickup and review is the Nike Sportswear Dunk Low in the “Goldenrod” colourway. With a full leather construction, yellow and black coloured leather panels give the shoe a striking look, with a clean white midsole to break up the colours. Adidas Canada sent me a pair of the recently released Forum Low “Home Alone”. Inspired by the shoe worn by character Kevin McAllister in the movie, these Forums are constructed out of an off-white and red leather combo, with a bunch of references on the shoe which pay homage to Kevin’s booby traps in the movie. The original colourway of the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 made its return today, but with a bit of a change. The “Beluga Reflective” looks pretty identical to the OG drop from 2016, but added to the upper are reflective threading to give the shoe an added pop!
