Following up on their highly successful 2021 collab, Patta and Nike are back, bringing back the “Waves” theme but this time on the Air Max 90. One of four colourways to drop in June, I’m reviewing my favourite of the bunch, the “Sapphire” colourway. Releasing just before the end of 2023, Nike released these women’s Dunk Lows, unofficially inspired by the iconic Air Max 90 “Bacon”. Crafted with elevated materials like tumbled leather and genuine nubucks, these mirror the colours of the famous Air Max 90 in a mix of sail, sport red, pink and brown. As part of the Doernbecher Freestyle XVIII collection, Nike also released one of my favourite silhouettes, the Air Max 90, designed by Emerson Harrell! Inspired by Emerson’s love for money and his dreams for becoming an investor, it features a unique colour palette of blue, white and red. Nike released the “Air Max Running Club” pack, which is a series of Air Max shoes that are given a retro, 70s flair, inspired by the actual running club, Athletics West, founded by Nike’s co-founders. SoleSavy’s second ever community custom shoe, the SS2, finally landed in my hands. In this joint project with Philadelphia-based Garrixon Studios, 800 individually numbered pairs of these bespoke Air Max 90s were handmade and sold exclusively to SoleSavy members. This time, this pair draws inspiration from the Parra x Patta Air Max 1 “Cherrywood”, and feature premium quality materials and flawless craftsmanship. I’m back with another Nike By You custom Air Max 90! My latest design is inspired by End Clothing’s collaboration with New Balance on the 1500 “Rainbow Eucalyptus”. I tried adopting a similar colour scheme onto the Air Max 90 silhouette – so let me know how you think it turned out!
Size? sent me a pair of the Air Max 90 Premium, in the “Dutch Green / Light Bone” colourway. These Air Maxes are constructed in a combination of premium leather, suede and mesh, with a very earthy colour palette.
