Today I’m reviewing the triple collab between Asics, Invincible, and Hong Kong-based brand Madness on the Gel-Kayano 12.1. Dressed in a monotone “Vanilla” colour, it actually incorporates a myriad of materials that can’t be appreciated without looking at it up close. 2026 saw the launch of the Asics Gel-NYC 2.0. This model adopts the upper of the Gel-1050, but incorporates a modernized tooling that provides incredible comfort. Hidden NY continued their partnership with Asics releasing their take on the Gel-Kinetic 2.0 earlier this month. This new model from Asics is a unique silhouette with a white mesh upper, FF Blast+ foam, Scutoid Gel cushioning and more. It also draws inspiration from mid 80s Macintosh-drawn artwork. Earls Collection, founded by former pro-rugby player Lewis Brown, released their second collaboration with Asics earlier this month. This pair is inspired by Brown’s upbringing, the concept of home, and translates it perfectly onto the Gel-Cumulus 16 model. One of the best Asics shoes to release this year is the Lapstone & Hammer collab, nicknamed “The Spark”. This take on the Gel-Kayano 12.1 is both simple but premium, with genuine leathers, canvas and suede used, along with a simple colour palette with a bit of pop. A few weeks back, Carnival, a boutique based out of Thailand, dropped a beautiful collab with Asics on the Gel-Kayano 12.1. This pair is inspired by the Phra Nakhon district of its capital city, Bangkok, and features a crochet-knit upper, a cement like spray-on midsole, and more. 2026 sees the launch of a new lifestyle model from Asics – the Gel-Kinetic 2.0. I picked up one of the first colourways to drop, the “Blue Coast” pair, which features a mesh upper, with silver, blue and dark grey tones covering this futuristic looking sneaker. Taiwan-based retailer, Invincible, launched their newest Asics collab back in October. This project reimagines the Gel-Nimbus 10.1 in subtle mismatching fashion, with grey mesh, suede and leather featured prominently, while accents of blue and red act as a nod to the two’s first collab on the Gel-Lyte III from 2015. Australian-based boutique, Up There, surprised the world with the sequel to their recently released “Natsukashii” Asics Gel-Kayano 12.1.
