As part of Kith and Adidas Originals fall 2023 lineup, I picked up one of the shoes that released – the Rod Laver. Named after the Australian tennis great, this shoe dates back to the 70s and has been more of a cult classic sneaker that has retroed a few times throughout history. This new colourway for Kith though is clean, minimalistic, and perfect for those not looking to boldly display a company’s logo on their feet.
Celebrating the X-Men’s 60th Anniversary, Kith teamed up with Marvel and Asics to release 7 different colourways of the Gel-Lyte III, each representing different iconic X-Men characters. Crenshaw Skate Club’s first collab with Nike SB recently dropped, releasing this beautiful homage to Crenshaw on the Dunk Low silhouette. Inspired by the neighbourhood, this pair mixes and matches materials including cracked leather, suede, and leather overlays mimic the look of oxidized metal signs. Bringing back a 2015 Gel-Lyte III colourway, Concepts and Asics reintroduced this familiar colourway earlier this month with the Gel-Lyte V “Libertea”. Earlier this month, Miami-based boutique, UNKNWN, released a special collaborative colourway of the Nike LeBron 20 called “Message in a Bottle”. This pair is a more premium take on King James’ 20th signature model, with hairy suede, genuine leather, and details such as a glow-in-the-dark Swoosh and outsole! Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance recently dropped three new colourways of the 650R, all featuring a mix of soft tumbled leather, and mesh panels.
