Following the Joe Freshgoods collab that dropped earlier this year, New Balance released its first general release colourway of the 9060 model last week, with the “Sea Salt” or “Mindful Grey” colourway. Today I’m reviewing the Atmos x New Balance 2002R collab that dropped this past May. Inspired by the rats of Shibuya along with the city’s sewage system, these feature a mostly grey coloured upper with a variety of materials such as faux fur, rat footprint patterned nubuck, and shiny leather. After being named last year as New Balance Made In USA’s Creative Director, Teddy Santis (of Aime Leon Dore) dropped another pair from his 16-pair collection late last week. Once again, he opted for the 990 V3 for his silhouette of choice, but instead of neutral tones, this pair opts for a bright purple suede, navy mesh, and orange and grey accents.
