Today I’m reviewing arguably the best Halloween-themed shoe of 2021, the “Mummy” SB Dunk Low. This pair, which dropped in time for Halloween that just passed, features a distressed canvas upper, two cartoon eyes peeping out the back heel, along with glow-in-the-dark hits on the heel, embroidery, and sole. Montreal-based studio, JJJJound, recently teamed up with New Balance once again to release their take on the 990 V4 silhouette. The “Parisian Night” colourway is done in dark tonal fashion, with black and dark blue suede, mesh and nubuck. The sequel to the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 recently arrived, with the “Noise Aqua” colourway! Switching things up, the Amsterdam-based boutique swaps the classic Air Max 1 midsole with a wavy one, creating a small but distinct change that surely will catch people’s attention. Social Status’ “Free Lunch” collaboration with Nike recently had their follow up release with the Nike Dunk in the “Strawberry Milk” colourway. Inspired by the milk given to underprivileged kids in the US through the government assistance program, this colourway implements a variety of materials like velvet, nubuck, and a jelly-like TPU Swoosh! My latest review covers the recent Stone Island x New Balance collab! Working together on a performance running shoe, the FuelCell RC Elite V2, was a bit of a surprise. Their take changes up the look however with a ripped-up appearance, exposing a mesh base layer, and oversized logos of the two respective brands. Releasing earlier this year, New Balance and A Bathing Ape teamed up to release the “Apes Together Strong” collection, which was headlined by two colourways of the 2002R model. The first pair, in a more classic BAPE ABC Camo look, and the other in a muted Grey Camo look, sold out instantly and has been on my radar since they released this past May. Adidas Canada hooked me up with a pair of the upcoming Billionaire Boys Club collab with Adidas on the HU NMD! This sneaker is inspired by retro spacesuits, with a ribbed grey Primeknit upper, and the BBC astronaut embroided in the centre.
