I’m ringing in the new year with a review of a brand I’ve yet to cover – Salomon. Last week, Kith dropped a 3-pair collaboration, including this white-based XT-4K model that I’m reviewing today. This trail-runner is given lifestyle fashion appeal with white and grey base layers accented with bright red hits! As part of Kith’s Winter ’24 line, they dropped a couple of Asics collaborations, including the Gel-Kayano 12.1 that I’m reviewing today. This pair features cream mesh, with translucent TPU layers in a pale mint tone. The upper of this shoe is also paired with the tooling of the Gel-Nimbus 17, resulting in a mashup that is refreshingly new but still works. I recently picked up the “University Gold / Black” Zoom Vomero 5 by Nike for under retail. A bright and bold colourway that offers a little something different stylistically, while still retaining incredible comfort that the model is known for. Australian boutique, Up There, is set to release their latest New Balance collab, this time releasing a colourful take on the 860 V2 sneaker. Dropping at the end of October, these feature a blue mesh base, green synthetic nubuck overlays, brown detailing, and pink laces. A random mix of colours but somehow they just work! New Balance recently launched the 14th generation of one of their most popular running shoe lines – the 1080. Taking a similar approach to last year’s V13, it still features a breathable, flexible mesh upper, along with a beefy Fresh Foam X midsole which provides maximum cushioning and softness. Today I’m reviewing the Magneto themed Asics Gel-1130, which features a gradient style purple mesh, and red and deep brown overlays inspired by the famous mutant villain’s costume.
